King’s Lynn mayor’s cadet appointed from 42F Squadron RAF Air Cadets in Town Hall ceremony
The tradition of appointing a Mayor’s Cadet for the coming year has been marked at a ceremony in the Town Hall.
With the inauguration of new West Norfolk mayor Margaret Wilkinson taking place, so too is it customary for a member of one of the town’s uniformed youth organisations to be appointed as cadet to the mayor.
This year, the honour of taking up the role falls to 15- year-old Corporal Oakley Took, who is from the 42F Squadron RAF Air Cadets, Lynn.
Oakley was presented with his badge of office by the new mayor at the ceremony which was held in front of the assembled dignitaries, councillors and guests.
Following the formal proceedings, a reception was held in the adjacent medieval stone hall, where Oakley had the opportunity to speak informally with the mayor about his role.
