King’s Lynn College of West Anglia School of Nursing Studies new training facility key for community healthcare

The School of Nursing Studies (SoNS), based at the College of West Anglia (CWA), represents a milestone in opening opportunities for the local workforce to live and train within the community.

For many, the new training facility represents a dearly held aspiration, with a chance to achieve long-held ambitions in developing qualifications and careers in healthcare.

The vision for this project has encapsulated the best qualities of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, with key pillars of the community uniting to make it a reality.

From the accelerated funding provided Town Deal Board and supported by the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk to the amazing partnerships with cherished local institutions at the CWA, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Anglia Ruskin University.

The Level 5 Nursing Associate apprenticeship will allow the local workforce to live and train within the community, whilst future expansion plans will help serve the needs of the local community and make extensive use of our state-of-the-art facilities.

After a busy year, the fruits of this collaboration have emerged as a first-class clinical teaching facility. Our ambitions are ultimately focused on supporting excellent patient care and I am confident that the SoNS offers outstanding facilities to develop health practitioners and support excellent patient care for many years to come.

Thirty-five years after beginning my own training as a nurse in King’s Lynn, it has been a privilege to be part of the journey in bringing it back home.

Adrian Debney, Senior Nurse Educator of the School of Nursing Studies
