“Thank you for all that you do”: NHS superstars celebrated at King’s Lynn award ceremony




“Thank you for all that you do” was the key message received by those who make a difference to patients at a hospital's awards night.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s 2024 Team QEH Awards was a glitzy evening, where guests were entertained by Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards, and was hosted at Lynn Corn Exchange on Tuesday.

More than 330 guests heard heartwarming stories about the finalists and winners.

One story included a patient who had nominated the Critical Care and ITU team for the incredible care they gave her dying husband in his final moments.

Another was the difference a nurse is making for patients who have had a stroke.

This year saw more than 700 nominations from patients and colleagues that all felt their nominee worthy of being put forward for an award.

Fourteen awards were presented to members of Team QEH and those that work closely with them.

The 2024 Team QEH Awards winners are:

- Exceptional Quality of Care Award: Dr Mohammed Imran, General Medical Consultant

- One to Watch Award: Charley Cartman, Administrator, New Hospital Team

- Leader of the Year, sponsored by exi group: Mandi English, Ward Manager, Acute Medical Unit (AMU)

- The Award for Outstanding Achievement in Innovation, sponsored by NICHE Anchor Institute: Jodie Tillett, Lead Nurse for Stroke

- The Kindness Award: Ross Kall, Communications Officer

- The Wellness Award: Victoria, Hollywood, Senior Operating Department Practitioner (ODP)

- The Fairness Award, sponsored by Barnes Construction: Faye Barnes Legal Services, Support Officer

- The Living to Our Values Award: Mark Carter, Director at Excell Engineering

- The Working Together Award, sponsored by mtx: The League of Friends

- Clinical Team of the Year, sponsored by Advanced Building Projects East Anglia: Critical Care / Intensive Therapy Unit

- Non-Clinical Team of the Year: Acute Medical Unit (AMU) Patient Flow Co-ordinators

- The John Voaden Volunteer of the Year Award: Al Ware, Volunteer, Stroke Ward

- The Unsung Hero Award, sponsored by RG Carter: Andy Richardson, Transport Support, Estates and Facilities

- The Chair’s Award: Sheridan Bell, Senior Healthcare Assistant, Rudham Ward

Alice Webster, CEO, who co-hosted the awards evening with Trust Chair, Chris Lawrence said: “I am hugely proud of Team QEH.

“The awards ceremony last night highlighted the great work that our team do here, from caring for those newlyborn into the world to providing dignity in care in a patient’s final moments.

“All of our team, including those work behind the scenes, make a real difference every day.”

Chris Lawrence, QEH Chair, said: “I am honoured to be the Chair of a Trust that has so many incredible people working within it. Every single one of them is exceptional. I thank them for all that they do.”

The Chair’s award winner, which was the final award of the evening, was handed to Sheridan Bell.

Sheridan, age 30, who has been working at the Trust for 10 years is a Registered Nursing Associate / Nursing Degree Apprentice.

Sheridan works on Rudham Ward, which looks after some of the most vulnerable patients the hospital has – children.

Along with caring for young patients every day she is also tirelessly working to develop her skills to soon become a registered nurse.

Sheridan, who had no idea she’d been nominated for the award until she was announced on the night. said: “I am so shocked, I still don’t think it’s registered.

“I was told my colleague had won the award and I was asked to come with her tonight – I even asked the gentleman behind me to film her when she goes up.

“I am absolutely delighted and feel very privileged to be personally selected by the Chair.”

The Team QEH Awards 2024 were sponsored by PA Consulting.
