Nominate inspiring young people in Norfolk for the Diana Award
Marking what would have been Princess Diana's 60th birthday, a charity set up in her memory is calling for nominations as it searches for Norfolk's most inspiring young people.
Celebrating young changemakers in Norfolk, the Diana Award is aimed at those aged 9-25 who are helping to change their community and improve the lives of others.
“COVID-19 has altered the lives of so many. But with great challenges, come opportunities to make change. We need your help to find the next generation of local young heroes changing the world around them,” said Tessy Ojo, CBE, CEO of The Diana Award.
Despite the pandemic, research by the organisation has revealed that young people remain determined to have a positive impact on society.
Inspired by Princess Diana's belief that young people have the power to change the world, the charity provides a prestigious platform to celebrate their achievements. The award is the highest accolade a young person can receive for social action or humanitarian efforts.
Last year's event saw the Duke of Sussex, Dame Emma Thompson DBE, Liam Payne, Will Poulter, Dan Smith of Bastille surprise recipients of the award with the first Diana Award virtual ceremony.
Among those who received the award was a 16-year-old youth health advocate from Norfolk, Ezara-Mai Downes.
Successful nominees will be honoured at a virtual award ceremony in the summer which will pay tribute to the Princess of Wales in the days leading up to what would have been her birthday.
Successful nominees will also be considered for the biennial Legacy Award later this year, which celebrates 20 exceptional changemakers from across the world.
The deadline for nominations is March 12. To nominate a young person for the award, visit: https://diana-award.org.uk/nominate
