North Wootton man attacked DJ's door with a baseball bat
A North Wootton man bashed a DJ’s door with a baseball bat after losing his temper over loud music being played.
A court heard that Jonathan Kidman, 35, had previously complained to police and Freebridge Community Housing about the level of sound coming from Shane Montesanto’s flat.
Magistrates in Lynn on Thursday were told that Kidman was playing tennis outside while Mr Montesanto was preparing music for a broadcast show.
Kidman told his neighbour: “If you don’t turn that sound system down I’m going to either kill you or myself.”
It happened at about 6.15pm on March 24. Seven days later Kidman became annoyed again while in his Priory Road ground-floor flat, which is below Mr Montesanto’s.
He took a baseball bat and hit his neighbour’s front door four or five times.
In court Kidman pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour and causing criminal damage.
Andrew Cogan, mitigating, said the noise nuisance to his client had been going for a considerable time and complaints had been lodged with the police and Freebridge.
He added: “Unfortunately Mr Kidman has simply lost his temper and decided to act on his behalf.”
Kidman was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £400 compensation to the housing association and £22 victim surcharge.
