Swaffham pancake race sees schools compete for coveted frying pan trophy
It was pancakes at dawn for three schools who competed in a special race in Swaffham on Tuesday.
Organised by the Swaffham and District Lions club, the inter-school event took place at Campinglands Park.
Teams from Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, Swaffham CE Primary Academy and the Nicholas Hammond Academy got involved in the fun.
John Collions from Swaffham Lions said: "We have run this event for many years but this year was the first time that Campinglands was the venue.
"The event was run as a series of relay races and the children had to flip their pancake at least once during their run.
"The magnificent engraved frying pan trophy was won by the Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, which will be displayed in their trophy cabinet alongside the previous five winning trophies.
"The children and organisers thoroughly enjoyed the event and plans are in hand to repeat it next year."
Syreeta Rice, deputy head teacher at Swaffham CE Primary Academy, said: "Our Year Fives showcased how we shine at Swaffham Primary Academy when they took part in the Lions' wonderful community spirited pancake race.
"A fantastic time was had by all and we can't wait for next year."
