Liz Truss has encouraged her new health secretary to visit the Queen Elizabeth Hospital to 'make sure that action is taken'.

Ms Truss said: "As a Norfolk MP, I have been working hard to see improvements and have seen the difficult situation with the roof."

She added: "I hope the new health secretary, Thérèse Coffey, will visit soon to see the situation and make sure that action is taken.

"She will be the one that delivers but I'm not making promises on her behalf."

As part of a series of interviews with local radio stations, Ms Truss also defended her government's mini-budget - which was announced last week.

The value of the pound has since hit record lows, but the Prime Minister said action had to be taken to slow rising fuel bills and inflation.
