King's Lynn Poppy Appeal launch

A Poppy Appeal launch took place in Lynn's Vancouver Centre to kick start Remembrance.

The launch was organised by Karin Hipkin, and took place on Saturday.

She was joined outside TK Maxx at the RBL Gazebo by the Sea Cadets and Army Cadets with the Mayor and Father Ling from All Saints Church present.

Four schoolchildren from Howard Junior attended in WW1 nurses and soldiers outfits and they read out their own poems they had written.

Karin said: "It's been an honour to be put in the position to launch the poppy appeal here in Lynn again. Because of Covid we haven't be able to have that over recent years.

"So it was an honour for me to be able to launch it again.

"I want to thank all my volunteers, the cadets and everybody who supported me and helped bring this all together."

At the end of the launch the Last Post was played followed by the volunteers going to do their poppy collections in stores and walking around town with their collections boxes.
