Swaffham pub offering free festive meals for those in need

A Swaffham team has pledged to deliver free Christmas meals to those who are vulnerable and in need.

The White Hart has joined forces with the town council to fund the meals through the Swaffham Relief in Need Fund.

A statement by the pub said: “This Christmas we wanted to bring people together but as we are serving the most vulnerable people in the community we have decided that risk would be to high so on Christmas day we will be delivering a hot Christmas Dinner to anyone that needs one.

“Much of our charitable efforts this year have followed our belief that no one should be hungry and our ‘Hart to Home’ meals service has been delivering hot meals to those in need since the early spring.”

The team intend to add a present to each meal and are appealing for these to be donated by the community.

Presents can be dropped off at the pub, which is located on London Street in Swaffham town centre during opening hours.

The statement by the pub adds: “The support for people in need this year here in Swaffham has been nothing less than amazing and we just know you will rise to this challenge as well.” .

The pub can be contacted on 01760 724295.

Such goodwill is also being shown by Pink Orange, a Suffolk-based food delivery service, which teamed up with Norfolk County Council to provide free household meal kits this winter.

West Norfolk residents can call 07553 894233 or visit www.pinkorange.co.uk to order these kits if they are in need.
