Burnham Market Primary School pupils’ short film S.I. Superficial Intelligence brings audiences of 150 to Fakenham Cinema for premiere

It was lights, camera, action for one primary school as they attended the premiere of their very own short film.

Pupils from Burnham Market Primary School were met with audiences of more than 150 people at Fakenham Cinema on March 25 for the launch of their movie S.I. Superficial Intelligence.

Two screenings of the movie were held after the youngsters tried their hand at scriptwriting, prop design, puppetry, cinematography, and even coding.

The film follows the story of two students who are overwhelmed by homework, so they develop an artificial intelligence named S.I. to help them.

However, as it rapidly evolves, it begins to think independently, leading to unexpected consequences.

They were helped by their teacher Ash Williams, as well as performance coach Callum Adkins, who helped them showcase their diverse talents and dedication.

"S.I. Superficial Intelligence isn’t just a short film, it’s a passion project that has brought out the best in everyone involved,” Mr Williams said.

The event, sponsored by Active Fakenham, served as a prelude to the upcoming Fakenham Film Festival, scheduled for September 2025, which will feature movies made by people in the area as well as a short film competition open to filmmakers and students across Norfolk.
