Downham Market pupils perform Matilda
Students at Nelson Academy were proud to present their first full musical production since 2019.
They performed the story of Roald Dahl's Matilda on July 14 and 15 which comprises a score written by musical comedian Tim Minchin.
Megan Abbott from Nelson Academy said: "The cast of Matilda have been working their socks off since September auditioning, singing and learning dance routines.
"The routines in the show are very challenging and they have all done an amazing job.
"Following our trip to see Matilda in the West End, we were all inspired to have as much fun as possible creating our own version.
"It has been amazing to see them develop their expression, singing and acting.
Everyone put in 100 per cent.
"We are lucky to have staff who are passionate about the
arts, and the collaboration from our team, Mrs Gallagher, Mrs Sek, Miss Driscoll and Mrs Melia has led to a
fantastic experience for the whole cast.
"The children are all very talented, and we hope to see more of them on the stage in the future.
"Shouts outs must go to Ella Taylor who played Matilda, Ellie Davey in the role of Miss Trunchball and Libby Nixon portraying Miss Honey, for how hard they have worked with their singing.
"We cannot express how well all the cast have achieved, especially in the school song, dancing with alphabet letters."
