Fun day at Snettisham's Norton Hill Light Railway organised by Hunstanton Rotary
Visitors enjoyed a charity weekend at Norton Hill Light Railway in Snettisham, organised by Hunstanton and District Rotary Club, writes AMELIA PLATT.
The privately owned miniature railway, which features two locomotives, often opens its doors to the public on weekends during the summer in order to raise money for good causes.
Visitors enjoyed a traditional fete with refreshments, live music and fun games and stalls. The main attraction, however, was the railway itself with attendees able to experience a 1km steam train ride.
The Norfolk Hospice Tapping House, Magpie Riding Centre for the Disabled Association, the West Norfolk Branch of the National Autistic Society and 1st Snettisham Scout group all had stalls.
Organiser Jean-Marie Vernon said: “The event went really well. The turnout was excellent and the weather was in our favour.”
Mr Vernon thanked the owners of the railway and his fellow Rotarians.
All the proceeds from the event will be shared with local charities which will be announced in the coming week.
This weekend, the Railway will also be opening for King’s Lynn Lions Club.
It will also be opening on the weekend of August 20 and 21 for King’s Lynn Purfleet Trust. Entry is £1 for adults with children entering free.
The fare for the steam train is £1.50pp. Norton Hill Light Railway is at Hall Farm, Old Church Road, Snettisham.
