Request for new leisure centre site in Swaffham
Swaffham Town Council agreed to send a letter requesting to have a new leisure centre away from the current Hamond’s Academy school site.
No objections were raised to the letter being sent during a council meeting on Monday evening.
The letter states that entering the school site is a barrier for some people who will not use the facility there.
It also suggests there is a “lack of scope for increasing the leisure provision that is evident at this particular site”.
The council go on to express in the letter, addressed to Nicky Sadler of Breckland Council, what their expectations are for the new centre.
These include good access, good parking provision, scope to develop a dry facility with scope for both indoor and outdoor activity.
A request is also made to provide enough room at the site for any future leisure provision.
