RNLI Wells rescues fishing boat with rope wrapped round propeller

A fishing boat with a rope wrapped round it's propellor was rescued at the weekend.

A Wells lifeboat was paged by HM Coastguard on October 10, to go to the assistance of a fishing vessel with crew of two, 16 miles offshore, which had a fouled propellor caused by a rope which had become wrapped around it.

The lifeboat and crew were towed by the Talus Crawler and launched at Holkham Bay at 7pm as the tide was at low water.

The lifeboat arrived on scene of the casualty vessel at 7.36pm.

With the fishermen both safe and well, the decision was made to attach a line and tow the fishing vessel into Wells harbour mouth.

The tow was dropped at the West Cardinal buoy, as the fishing vessel had enough drive to make its own way into Wells Quay for the short distance remaining, and safely back onto its mooring.

With no further assistance required, Wells all-weather lifeboat, with volunteer crew, made its way back to the station.

The lifeboat was ashore at 9pm.
