A stretch of the A148 is closed as police warn motorists to avoid the area.
The road is closed at West Rudham with diversion signs in place.
Barriers have been put up on a section of the road with temporary traffic signals installed.
AA Roadwatch states there was a burst water main, which was first reported yesterday.
