Scottish company reassures Swaffham residents after energy bills mix-up
An energy company has urged residents to contact them if they have any issues following an error in which the wrong bills were sent to households.
Residents in Swaffham have been receiving the wrong bills from Scottish Power.
Every unique electricity meter should be registered to a specific household but during the building process, some have been allocated to the wrong house.
The Glasgow-based company has urged affected residents to contact them if they have experienced problems so that they can work with them to resolve the issue.
A Scottish Power spokeswoman said: "We would like to apologise wholeheartedly to any of our customers currently experiencing billing issues in Swaffham and would encourage any customers who have not already spoken to us to get in contact if they believe they are having similar issues.
“We would also like to reassure any customer affected by this that we will not be taking any further action for energy bills they have received that are not for their household that remain unpaid.”
She added that a resident had been incorrectly visited by a debt collector over a billing error, which should not have happened. The resident has received an apology from the company.
