As theatregoers wait for curtain-up on the terrace, with its stunning views out to sea, they can order their cod or plaice and chips and within minutes it will served to their table.

Their orders will be brought to them by a “runner” specially employed for the role. The runner will even collect their used chip containers.

Fishers’ manager James Harbour said the new business link with the theatre was a result of their desire to offer their customers something totally different.

“The theatre’s Sunset terrace offers one of the best views of the seafront at Sunny Hunny and what could be better than sitting on the terrace with your cooling drink while enjoying a portion of our excellent fish and chips,” said Mr Harbour.

The new business link -up was celebrated at the weekend by offering the first 40 diners ordering fish and chips, a bottle of Moet champagne for the price of £10.

“The link-up with the Princess Theatre is another step forward for our fish and chip business,” said Mr Harbour.

He said it represents an investment in new staff and technology on the ordering cash tills.

Princess Theatre director Brian Hallard said he and co-director Paul Searle had been talking about the idea of linking up with Fishers for some time.

He said customers had been asking about offering food and through this link-up they could sit on the terrace, looking at the sun setting over the sea while enjoying their fish and chips.
