Snettisham flytipper fined after pleading guilty to dumping van full of waste
A flytipper from Snettisham has been fined over £2000 after pleading guilty to dumping a large van full of domestic waste on agricultural land, a court heard.
Christopher Wakefield, 27, pleaded guilty to dumping waste in Docking in February 2018.
He was fined a total of £2229 and was told by the court that it was an expensive mistake which they did not want to see repeated.
Wakefield appeared in court on Wednesday, December 12.
Councillor Ian Devereux said: "Flytipping is unsightly and ruins our beautiful countryside. If it is dumped on public land, it costs the tax payer to clear it up.
"If it is dumped on private land, then the cost often falls to the landowner. Everyone single one of us has a responsibility to dispose of our waste properly.
"It's a matter we take seriously and where we have sufficient evidence we will prosecute."
Anyone with information about flytipping should report it to the police on 999 if it is taking place, or report it to the council using an online form if it has already happened.
