A 24-year-old South Lynn woman was abusive to police during an early-hours incident in the town.

Officers on patrol in Norfolk Street at 3.10am on November 3 noted Ria Langley to be “intoxicated and falling about”, Lynn Magistrates’ Court heard on Monday.

After ten minutes of asking Langley to leave the area, the officers then began to usher her away.

Prosecuting, Jane Walker said the defendant swore at them, adding: “She continued to thrash about and wouldn’t calm down. At 3.20am she was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.”

Langley, of Burney Road, pleaded guilty to the offence.

She was unrepresented in court and said in mitigation: “To be honest I don’t remember it at all. I just woke up in that cell.

“I shouldn’t behave like that and it won’t happen again.”

She was given a 12-month conditional discharge.
