Bawsey Park's message is still the same: Stay out of the water and stay safe
With the weekend looking like it's a hot one and a heatwave looming it's great to have fun in the sun and the temptation to go in to the water to cool down or swim is inviting.
But the message from Bawsey Country Park is still the same - stay out of the water and stay safe.
Four people have drowned at Bawsey since 2013, two of the in the past two years.
Radek Gina, aged 20, died last month after getting in trouble at the former quarry.
Bawsey's business development manager Richard Wilkins said it was impossible to predict how busy the park would be this weekend but given the predicted hot weather it was likely many would visit.
He said: "Our policy is the same as it has always been, it is simple, stay out of the water and stay safe."
Bawsey is a wonderful place to visit and enjoy the outdoors. However, as with any outdoor space, there are potential hazards. By following a few simple rules, visitors can enjoy the park and keep themselves safe and the environment safe and beautiful.
Education is key for members of the public to learn about water safety - the first being that if you don't go in to the water in the first place then you won't encounter any issues.
If however the park rule is ignored or not understood in some way then an event to teach people about staying out of the water and what to do if you do get in to trouble is being held in conjunction with the Wells Harbour Police and the Fire Service on Friday, July 30.
There are many signs and information in and around Bawsey Country Park and on their website, in different languages to highlight the park rules. The RNLI also have a campaign called Float to Live. This will educate why the water is dangerous and give an explanation of why ongoing safety is so important.
