Parkwalk at Sandringham is waiting for you to stride out and get involved




People who prefer to walk have always been welcomed at parkrun events and organisers of the Sandringham event are encouraging more to come along and take part.

Held alongside parkrun, event headline partner Vitality would like to see more walkers than ever join in with parkwalk.

Walking offers many physical and mental health benefits at and parkwalk, you can take part at your own pace, enjoy the fresh air and be part of a supportive community.

It’s a great way to keep active, promote wellbeing and boost your mood. At parkwalk there’s no pressure to run, its free and fun.

The parkwalk aim is for the most walkers ever to turn up at events on Saturday, April 26, but the hope is also for an increase in numbers each week.

The friendly 5k parkrun events take place every Saturday starting at 9am but participants are asked to arrive by 8.30am to 8.40am for a briefing. You need to register in order to take part at https://www.parkrun.org.uk/register/ after that you receive a barcode which is then used each time you participate.

The Sandringham event takes place at the royal estate where parking is free until 11am. Every parkrun and junior parkrun has a volunteer tail walker, who wears an orange high visibility vest so you are never the last to finish.

Volunteer parkwalkers wear light blue high visibility vests and provide support and encouragement along the route.

A spokesperson said: “Come and join us at Sandringham Parkrun - and start walking your way to a healthier you.”

* Sandringham 5K Your Way events welcome anyone impacted by cancer and take place on the last Saturday of every month at 9am - meet at the Visitor Centre.

Move Charity is a supportive community that inspires and empowers people impacted by cancer, including their family, friends and healthcare professionals. It has ambassadors from Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust who attend to welcome people and to walk and talk around the route.
