Anglian Water fix 'substantial leak' near Vancouver Avenue and Hardwick Road junction in King's Lynn

A 'substantial leak' led to an emergency road closure earlier this week.

Liberal Democrat county councillor Rob Colwell tweeted on Tuesday evening to report a burst water main near Vancouver Avenue in Lynn, close to a junction with Hardwick Road.

Norfolk County Council said access would be prohibited on the roads until October 3.

However, Anglian Water - which owns the water system at that location - said the issue was not a burst main, but instead a ‘substantial leak on a customer’s stop tap’.

They added that issues ‘escalated’ and an emergency road closure was put in place on Tuesday morning.

A spokesperson said: “Repairs followed swiftly and the work was completed and the road reinstated at 2.15pm.”

This incident has been followed by residents in the Fairstead and Gaywood areas of Lynn being been left with little to no water after a leak at another of Anglian Water's sites.

Staff are currently trying to identify the cause.
