Swaffham Rotary Club hands over charity golf day proceeds
Two charities have received their share of the proceeds from the Swaffham Rotary Club’s annual golf day.
Dozens of players took part in the event, which took place on one of the hottest days of the year, at the town’s golf club last month.
Now, officials from the main beneficiaries, the Big C cancer charity and the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA), have each received cheques for £2,000 from the club, out of around £4,500 raised on the day.
The presentations were made during the latest Rotary meeting at the George Hotel last night.
Club president Malcolm Whittley presented the donations to Big C chief executive Dr Chris Bushby and Ian Pilcher of SSAFA.
Meanwhile, tickets are also on sale for the Rotary Club’s annual visual arts festival this autumn.
Events will be taking place from late September and throughout October. Tickets are available from Rotary club members or the Ceres bookshop in London Street. Further details are also available at www.swaffhamvisualartsfestival.co.uk.
