Lilly’s Tearoom set to open new branch at Denver Windmill

An exciting tearoom expansion will see a new branch open at a village windmill.

Lilly's Tearoom, which is based in Brandon, Suffolk, is opening a new branch at Denver Windmill next Friday (April 18).

Since being opened during the Covid pandemic by Kirsty Skipper, the family-run and owned business has “grown and grown” - and this will be its second branch.

Kirsty believes the venue is bucking the trend by managing to cut its prices when many other businesses are putting theirs up.

The tearoom will be working in conjunction with the bar already in place at the windmill, and will offer evening meals, afternoon teas, and vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options.

It will be open from Wednesday to Sunday from 10am-3pm, with later openings in the summer as well as bar meals on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Kirsty added: “There has been nowhere in the area for a while that offers just a place for people to go and relax and enjoy traditionally cooked English food.

“We are typically British in the afternoon teas that we offer – we use vintage china.

“Americans love it in Brandon. I am hoping it is going to bring a bit of life back into the area and get people visiting Denver again.

“The area has some lovely dog walks and boats on the river, so hopefully, with us offering somewhere for people to get takeaway picnic boxes or food for them to then take on the boats, it will generate more business for them as well.”

It is a “really exciting” opportunity for Kirsty. She has built up good relationships with customers in her Brandon branch, and is hoping she can do the same at the Denver premises.

All the food is freshly prepared and cooked to order, says Kirsty, who also makes all of the cakes on site.
