The future’s Bright Map as far as churches concerned

The Diocese of Norwich has launched a new website mapping tool that offers access to numerous groups and activities across Norfolk.

The aim of the new interactive Bright Map is to help people in Norfolk easily find the groups and activities that exist within local communities.

They include Alpha courses, parent and toddler groups, Messy and Café Church and arts and creative groups.

Director of marketing and communications for the Diocese of Norwich, Gordon Daley, said the aim of the new Bright Map is to help people find regular groups and activities near to them.

Mr Daley said: “The majority of local activities and groups, especially in rural communities, are either run or supported by the local church.

“We want to help people who are looking for a community group but who may not always think to visit their local church website or notice board.”

The Bright Map displays details of everything from parent and toddler groups, debt advice sessions and marriage preparation courses.

The Bright Map is mobile friendly and displays all activities in towns and villages in Norfolk and Waveney and not just those organised by the church.

It also includes a short description of the activity or group written by those who run it and links the user with the church’s website if there is one.

Mr Darley explained that the map also shows those using it activity and hobby groups such as bell ringing, youth groups and art

groups.

An example of the detail on offer is if you click on Dersingham you get balloons telling you there is a Mothers’ Union meeting on the second Wednesday of the month at the church hall (2pm), which is the same day and venue as a men’s group (10.30am).
