‘One hell of a crash’ as toddlers left bruised during Lynx bus journey from King’s Lynn to Fakenham
Two toddlers were left with bruised faces after a bus driver “bombed it” over a mini-roundabout.
Kyle Tipper was on the Lynx service’s 49A bus from Lynn to Fakenham with his three young children on Friday when the incident happened.
The father explained that as the bus was going over the Wells/Highfield Road mini-roundabout in Fakenham, the driver took the corner too quickly, causing his double pram - with a two-year-old and one-year-old inside - to tip over.
Despite his children screaming and being left in tears, Kyle said the driver did not stop to check if they were okay - much to the horror of other passengers.
“Everyone on the bus was shocked,” he told the Lynn News.
“I’ve seen elderly people with walkers fall over on that bus before, and the driver stopped to make sure they were fine, but this one didn’t.”
He said he was left struggling to get the pram back up because the bus kept driving, and it fell down again while they were on the move.
His six-year-old, who has autism, was travelling with him and is now anxious about using public transport, which is how he and his siblings would usually get from his mum Gabrielle Lance’s house in Lynn to his dad’s house in Wells.
The toddlers developed bruises and red marks on their faces.
“I’ve never seen a pram fall over like that before - it was one hell of a crash,” Kyle added.
At the time, the father’s main concern was making sure his children were all okay, so he did not confront the driver, but says he was at the point “of wanting to snap”.
“The drivers have a duty to look after their passengers,” he added.
He called Gabrielle immediately afterwards to tell her what had happened, and she contacted the bus operator with her complaint.
Lynx is reviewing the CCTV and building a report.
The company has declined to comment on the incident at this time.
