Downham Market flat with ongoing anti-social behaviour issues shut down after police seek order from King’s Lynn Magistrates’ Court

A flat has been closed down by police amid ongoing issues with anti-social behaviour.

Police officers attended Lynn Magistrates’ Court today to have the Downham property shut under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 following problems with drug taking, noise nuisance, offensive language and disruptiveness.

An order has since been granted making it a criminal offence for anyone to be inside the Wales Court house for the next three months. This includes the occupier, who will have to find other accommodation.

Inspector Ben Jarvis said: “The work conducted by the West Norfolk Operational Partnership team in closing down this problematic address underlines how Norfolk Constabulary deals with anti-social behaviour that affects the quality of life of others.

“This order will have a lasting positive impact on people living, working in and visiting Downham Market town centre.

“It serves as a reminder to others committing anti-social behaviour that the police will deal robustly with offenders to prevent people in the local area from being affected by the poor behaviour of the few.”
