The Norfolk Deli in Hunstanton wins big at 2024 Farm Shop and Deli Retailer Awards
A town deli has been crowned among the country’s best after a recent awards ceremony.
The Norfolk Deli in Hunstanton was named the Best Retailer in the Delicatessen category and Best Retailer Anglia at the 2024 Farm Shop and Deli Retailer Awards.
The business beat competition from across the UK and Northern Ireland following a comprehensive judging process, and scooped the awards at a ceremony yesterday at the annual Farm Shop and Deli Show in Birmingham.
Beating eight other delicatessens in the finals, judges praised The Norfolk Deli - with comments including: “Inside is neat and the full height display cabinets make for great merchandising.”
Others added: “Outside is very nice and colorful. The stock is very nice and the wine area has a great selection.”
A cost of living menu at the Hunstanton venue was deemed a “fantastic idea”, while a commitment to self sustainability was praised too.
“Their local community work is very commendable also and shows they are entwined with the locals and know their base - wanting to improve the town as well as the shop profits,” judges added.
“Planting a tree for every order is something I haven’t heard of before - what a fantastic idea to increase online purchases.”
Judges felt that staff have “really moved this business on from where it was”.
They said: “They have worked so hard over the years. Great to see the improvements and the growth. Shows what hard work can do.”
Sourcing produce from more than 80 local suppliers also earned the business praise.
Mark Kacary, the managing director at The Norfolk Deli, said he is celebrating the pair of “wonderful accolades”.
He praised the hard work his staff continue to put into the deli in what is its tenth anniversary year.
Mr Kacary spearheaded the first West Norfolk Seasonal Food and Drink Festival on Hunstanton’s High Street in March.
