Two West Norfolk charities receive £10,500 donation from former borough mayor

Former borough mayor Carol Bower along with former deputy mayor Jim Moriarty have donated £10,500 to their two chosen charities of the year.

Ms Bower chose to support The One to One Project, which works to support West Norfolk residents experiencing mental health issues through individual mentoring, counselling and group work.

She also spent her term supporting The Purfleet Trust, a charity which works with single homeless people in West Norfolk offering housing advice, tenancy support and an opportunity to gain some essential life skills.

Mr Bower said: “Homelessness and mental health are two worldwide issues, and I wanted to support people within West Norfolk who are dealing with these problems.

“We were able to donated £10,500 to both charities. This was money raised through dinners and other events throughout the year.

“But, as well as this, we have also been supporting them with a separate project, which they just so happened to be working together on.

“The One to One Project has been working with the Purfleet Trust to provide people who use it with counselling sessions. This is a three year project and it is wonderful.

“It was important to me to support two local charities on issues which need addressing in our country.”
