Snettisham's Wild Ken Hill shows promising signs of regrowth after devastating fire
Signs of regrowth at a rewilding farm that was beset with fire during the heatwave is proof that hope springs eternal.
The green growth on the scorched and burnt area of Wild Ken Hill in Snettisham has given staff at the reserve optimism that nature and its restorative powers will bring the area to life again.
Most of the fire damage was towards Snettisham beach where wildlife, animals, reptiles and birds were the casualties of wildfires when the nation experienced soaring heat.
The rewilding farm hosts BBC The Watches and Chris Packham commented on the fire damage at the site saying that it 'hit home personally'.
With signs of life in the area ravaged by fire in July, the optimism voiced by nature presenter Megan McCubbin is shared with the staff at the reserve.
Dominic Buscall, project manager at Wild Ken Hill said: “It is very encouraging to see signs of regrowth across the area of coastal park that was affected by last month’s fire.
"With another heatwave over the bank holiday looming, we do hope that people take the appropriate actions in terms of not littering, being responsible when visiting sensitive areas, particularly no disposable barbecues, that's critical."
"I hope that these fires that we've had this summer show to Government, business and society that we've got to do a lot, lot more on climate change because these extreme weather events are only going to become more common."
Management at the site have also confirmed that the one day festival Gathering will still be going ahead in the autumn.
