Marham fun day draws the crowds
Tempted out by the glorious sunshine and lots of fun activities, an estimated 3,000 people turned out for Marham fun day on Sunday.
Attractions lined up for them included a classic car show, fun dog show, craft competition, stalls, displays and entertainment.
It was organised by Marham Friends and Sara Bucke, one of the tea, said afterwards that they expect to have raised just under £3,000 which will go back into the village for local causes.
“It was a fantastic event, the weather was perfect and it was free,” she said.
A classic car show was sponsored by Adrian Flux Insurance. About 120 vehicles turned up and the winner was Barry Newman's Ford Sierra 4x4 with his brother Dave's Fiesta Zetec as runner-up and Bill Baxter's Mustang in third place.
The dog show attracted around 70 entries with chihuahua Honey taking best in show from Boxer Bruno.
Best in show in the craft classes was Colin Watts with his knitted toy golfer.
Marham School of Performing Arts gave a dance display and invited the children to join in, Mike Country entertained with songs and nine teams entered the children's tug-of war competition.
A slime-making activity tent went down a storm with around 220 young takers getting involved.
Main sponsors for the day were Longson estate agents, Adrian Flux, Maze Media and Watlington Drainage Renovations plus a number of other contributors.
The Friends, which organises other community events during the year, said Sunday's was probably their "best ever".
