Gayton primary students' end-of-year celebrations
Students new and old celebrated the end-of-the-year at Gayton Primary Academy yesterday bringing together the present day with a sense of nostalgia.
It was a poignant occasion as the school is moving to a new site that opens in September (see below for details of open day).
The celebrations featured current students and guests visited who had attended the school when they were young.
Old school photos proved an interest to those who went to the school in the mid to late 1960s and were displayed on notice boards for a trip down memory lane.
Attending were Sue Antony (Paige), Giniztie Dongate (Hammond), Karen Wilkinson (Bridges), Linda Jennings (Paige,) Jan Dix (Clark) and Margaret Seed (Clark) who were all pupils back in the day.
Headteacher Rachael Greenhalgh spoke at the event and the weather stayed bright and sunny as the students leave for the summer holidays.
The new school will open to the children on Thursday, September 8, and an open afternoon for people to look around on September 16, at 3.30pm.
