Nordelph pianothon raises £2,000 for Ukraine
Nordelph residents tinkled the ivories to the tune of at least £2,000 in aid of Ukraine on Sunday.
There was a six-hour pianothon, along with a collection of gift items and cash for the war-torn country, held at Nordelph Village Hall.
Volunteers ran a cake stall and raffle, while donations included medical supplies, pet food, children's clothes and toys and bedding.
The day was organised by Cate Waters, a local piano teacher who today (Tuesday) was due to pick up donations from Howard Junior School in Gaywood.
She said: "Nordelph is only a small village of 350 people yet they have donated £2,000, which is amazing.
"There were 90 attending and a lot of people have got Covid who wanted to attend, and couldn't.
"We're keeping open donations until Easter. Morrisons were wonderful with a trolley full of stuff as we had an all-day breakfast; while one of my ex-students, professional chef Nyle Tinworth, came and cooked in the kitchen.
"When you look at what's happening in Mariupol (a city under siege by Russian forces) I couldn't sit back and do nothing."
Cate played for four hours 20 minutes after keyboard stints from Chris Young, Constance Heald and Sarah Norman, the latter who played voila and piano including a rendition of the Addams Family theme.
