James Wild votes against Labour Government’s higher tax plans for farmers

James Wild voted against plans to impose higher taxes on British farms at Parliament on Wednesday.

The North West Norfolk MP has been vocal in his support for the agricultural industry in recent weeks, and had his say during an Opposition Day Debate.

This followed a visit to protests in London which were organised to oppose the Labour Government scheme.

Speaking on Wednesday, he said: “Today I voted against the Family Farm Tax, and backed our British farmers that keep our country fed.”

“I’ve heard the stories of countless local farmers and the consensus is clear. This is a policy that will undermine our food security and the ability of generational family farms to plan and invest in their business.”

“Today, Labour MPs in Norfolk were given a chance to do the right thing and axe this tax, but it is disappointing that they instead chose to undermine the very people that put food on our tables.”

“I’ll continue to press this case. It’s important that we stand with our agricultural communities now more than ever.”
