Downham Market woman, 23, charged with death by careless driving after Southery fatality




A 23-year-old woman has been charged in connection with a fatal collision in Southery on Friday.

Officers were called to the B1160 Lynn Road at the junction with Ferry Bank at around 4.05pm following reports of a collision involving a red Yamaha motorbike and a red Honda Accord.

Sadly, the rider of the motorbike – 33-year-old Matthew Day – died later that day as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the red Honda Accord was arrested and was taken to Lynn Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Mikayla Hayes, 23, of Snowdrop Grove, Downham Market, has subsequently been charged with death by careless driving.

She has been remanded into custody ahead of her next court appearance at Norwich Magistrates’ Court today (Monday).
