Little Snoring woman Johanna Feery in King’s Lynn court after drunken offence on the A148 in Fakenham
A woman was found slumped behind the wheel and parked in the middle of a road while drunk - but has escaped a ban.
Johanna Feery, 46, was found by a member of the public on the A148 in Fakenham.
He called the emergency services and gained permission to move Feery’s car.
Feery, of The Street in Little Snoring, appeared at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where she admitted being in charge of a vehicle while drunk.
Prosecutor Anna Crayford told the court the offence took place at 9pm on February 9.
Police soon arrived to the scene and arrested Feery, taking her to Lynn’s Police Investigation Centre to carry out further tests.
Feery provided a reading of 94mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath. The legal limit to drive is 35mcg.
While in custody, Feery told officers that she had been to church and was upset due to it being the anniversary of her mother’s death.
She had then purchased some wine on her way home and drank it while in the car.
Feery was also in court for drink-driving in 2020.
In mitigation, Tiffany Meredith told the court that Feery was having a “fairly horrendous day”.
She also explained that she had been the victim of assault causing actual bodily harm and coercive behaviour at the time of the previous drink-driving offence.
Ms Meredith said that Feery was “extremely upset” by both this and her mother’s death on February 9.
The solicitor added that Feery is a lifestyle coach, and she is now seeking help herself for her mental health.
Magistrates added ten points to Feery’s driving licence and fined her £516.
She will also pay a victim surcharge of £230 and court costs of £85.
