Downham Market woman campaigns to raise awareness of ovarian cancer
A woman is continuing her campaign by fundraising to raise awareness of ovarian cancer after she was diagnosed herself.
Diane Boothby, from Downham, organised a large raffle with the first prize being a two-night stay in a pod which was donated by Woodlakes Park, Stowbridge.
The raffle was raising money for Target Ovarian Cancer which is a chairty that helps to raise awareness of symptoms and provide support to those effected.
Other prizes included £50 void vouchers donated by Pan Asia, 6 meals at Downham Cafe, Spa treatment at Energise Relax in Petney, beauty facial and back massage at Beauty and Esthetics lounge in Downham Market, Free Train journey for a family of 5, a free oven clean worth £50 plus more.
Diane said: “I would like to thank everyone for their wonderful prizes, without their support there would be no raffle. Jack at Woodlake’s hosted us anytime we wanted to sell raffle tickets.”
“It was very successful with raising £1040 of which Target Ovarian Cancer are very thankful. They have now brought out a red card resource for all GPs to help with early diagnosis.”
“We are trying to get all GPs in the area involved with the help of East of England Cancer Alliances”
