Woman horse rider injured on Holme beach is picked up by helicopter
A badly-injured horse rider has been rescued on Holme beach with the help of a Coastguard helicopter.
The incident happened yesterday lunchtime with the lifeboat hovercraft crew at Old Hunstanton station receiving a request at 12.20pm from the Coastguard to help paramedics carry a woman rider to higher ground on the beach as the tide was coming in.
Due to the severity of the injuries to the rider, the Coastguard helicopter was requested, and landed on the beach.
Once the paramedics had stabilised the casualty she was placed in the helicopter and flown to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
A statement from the RNLI said: "This was a serious incident carried out by various agencies working together, well done all. We wish the young lady a speedy recovery."
