Let’s use these RSPB centres or we may well lose them
News has emerged that the RSPB (The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) has announced the closures of five retail facilities, one café and four visitor centres across seven sites.
This affects Norfolk and other parts of Eastern England. The charity said it forms "a review of its operations" to ensure its long-term sustainability. Redundancies are expected and there are worries that some reserves could be shut down.
There will be no support from this anti-rural Labour Government with their housing programme and they will have tunnel-visioned plans for any closures.
They are at the heart of nature encompassing a range of beautiful creatures that have found a home in these reserves, not bricks and mortar.
They hold an amazing array of wildlife, enfold rare birds, invertebrates, mammals, deciduous trees and plants. They are more than habitats, a haven vital for our natural ecosystem and for the well being of our hearts and minds.
RSPB reserves are not just important for biodiversity, they are crucial for humans. Exposure to green spaces can increase a sense of belonging. It goes beyond conservation to protecting mental health.
I'm raising public awareness that if we don't use these reserves, we will lose them.

EDITOR: Just to clarify, no Norfolk sites are under threat.
No wonder our faith in MPs has sunk to an all-time low
My MP Terry Jermy claims he is genuinely "delighted" at the latest (delayed) start date for our new Lynn hospital, but he sounds like he's just trotting out some hapless anodyne guff to try and put a positive shine on what is clearly Labour's latest failure to deliver for the people of West Norfolk.
I do know that this latest crushing announcement confirms my utter disdain for political types.
Why is it politicians of all hues feel entitled to adopt slopey shoulders the minute they win a vote?
Didn't we hear local Tories like Liz Truss and James Wild crowing from the top of the dung heap in this very newspaper about positively securing and identifying the funds and a start date for the new QEH?
Didn't we hear Labour continually sneering at the horrid old failing Tories and promising change and a 'fairer' society under Labour?
Where are we now Terry, Liz, and James et al? Back to square one.
Who can ever feel anyone can trust a single disingenuous word which falls from their mouths? What has Labour done with those "secured" funds we were all told about? It doesn't matter who told the biggest lie... they all obviously do it with impunity and zero accountability to the electorate.
Polls show our faith in our awful politicians has sunk to an all-time low... who's surprised?

Sir Keir’s magnificent leadership
So, the UK’s most senior civil servant has dismissed Robert Jenrick's lies and smears about the Attorney General. This simply underlines how Robert Jenrick is nothing more than a political opportunist.
All coming from a Conservative Party that opposed breakfast clubs, opposed reduced school uniform costs for parents, opposed better controls over home schooling, hate the fact that NHS waiting lists are coming down, hate people wanting to feel secure in their rented homes, hate improvements to military families housing, hate veterans being prioritised for homes, did nothing about Covid fraud, and ignored the rape gangs inquiry recommendations so their MPs could all jump on a bandwagon in opposition.
Indeed, under a Conservative government, three times they failed when the Southport killer was referred to Prevent, ten times he was known to the Police for having knives and on numerous occasions social workers visited him with security due to concerns.
All due to cuts in frontline public services by the Conservatives.
Cuts that are thankfully being gradually unpicked by a Labour government under the magnificent leadership of Sir Keir Starmer.

Three negatives always stand out with things such as this
We are to be subjected to unitary authorities and devolution, without a public vote.
In experiencing all manner of such actions by local and national governments over the decades, three things always stand out at the end of such rearranging of the deck chairs on the Titanic.
1- The cost to the taxpayer (for generations to come) will be prohibitive;
2- The reasons/outcomes promised will not in reality materialise;
3- Those elected/paid to represent the public, will be even further removed from being in close contact and accountable.

Keeping warm for just two pence an hour
If you're feeling cold and don't want the heating on, may I suggest a heated throw.
I was lucky enough that my energy company, Octopus, sent me one for free.
I use it most days. My hands are always cold, yet with this wonderful blanket, my hands and I bask in warmth at a minimal cost of about tuppence (2p) per hour.
I understand that local discount stores sell the throws quite cheaply.
I promise you that you will feel so much better for the heat and you'll be better off. What's not to like?
