Senior A league leaders AFC Emneth make it eights wins from as many games




It’s now eight wins from eight in Senior A league leaders AFC Emneth after they thrashed Soham Town Rangers Reserves 6-1.

Josh Williams opened the scoring with his first goal for the club after being set up by Jason Day, and Niall Burton made it 2-0 after good work by Toby Allen.

Day supplied Joe Reed to make it three and his third assist was a corner chested in by Jake Ogden to make it 4-0 at the break.

Soham hit back from a penalty but the Honey Badgers hit a fifth before Burton got his second with a great volley.

It’s now seven wins from seven in 3B for high-flyers Outwell Swifts, who triumphed 4-0 at Mepal Sports.

The quartet of Stefan Anderson, Ross Beart, Jack Brand and Ryan Shinn all found the back of the net.

Wicken Amateurs are hot on their heels, however, with six wins from six after inflicting a first defeat of the season on AFC Emneth Reserves, 4-2.

Benny Garner got both Emneth goals.

In the Peterborough League, A goal from Arron Pike was not enough as Division One outfit Long Sutton Athletic were beaten 2-1 at Division Two side Crowland Town Reserves in the Spalding Inter Services Trophy.

Division Three side Sutton Bridge lost 3-0 at Holbeach United Sports of Division One.

Marshland Saints Reserves beat Gayton Old Boys 2-0 in Division Two of the North West Norfolk League, with Dave Abbott getting both goals.
