King's Lynn to host banger meeting on Sunday

After a hectic start to the delayed season with at least one event a week from the end of May when racing resumed, drivers and fans had the chance to take a breather with no meeting last weekend.

But the rest does not last for long with racing returning to Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena on Sunday (1pm) when drivers will be using cars from yesteryear with the annual Pre 75 event for National Bangers and Junior Bangers.

As the names suggests Pre 75 Bangers are for cars which were first in production before 1975 and drivers also have to use age related engines.

The entry of cars would not be out of place in a classic car show with a variety of veteran Triumph 2000s, Austin Cambridges, Ford Cortinas, Rover P5s, Hillman Super Minxs, Austin Westminsters and veteran Jaguars amongst the impressive list of machinery set to be in action.

Cars are split into “overs” and “unders” with the larger cars over 2L racing together.

The Freestone family will be back in force with brothers Lester and Kevin Frestone booked to race in the “overs” class whilst Lester’s son Ryley will also be in action. They are all expected to be returning cars they raced at the Unlimited Banger War of the Worlds last month.

Also booked to race in the overs is Dersingham racer Sam Coote. Paul Bowen will be in action in the unders class where local racers Darren Fendley and Alex Ward will also be in action.

Completing the action are the Junior Bangers where the entry includes Colney Raynor. Other local drivers in action in the juniors include Sam Malkin, Rhys Mills and Perry Williamson.
