Busy week on West Norfolk waters
It has been a busy week on the waters across West Norfolk with Ten Mile Bank and the Middle Level producing quality catches on both the tip and pole.
Fish have taken to the baits with skimmers to 2lb, roach to 10oz, bream to 6lb, tench to 6lb 5oz on Ten Mile Bank.
The two main stretches which have produced quality catches have been between Wissey Mouth and Railway Bridge and also Brown’s Farm to the Chapel.
Pinkie, maggot, caster, hemp and tares have all helped with steady catches.
Whip, tip and pole have also been the preferred methods on the Middle Level where skimmers, roach, rudd, tench, the odd bream and perch have all put in an appearance.
Nets to 20lb have been reported frequently during the last week.
The favoured hot spots have been St Germans to High Road, and Crooked Chimney to Pingles.
Skimmers to 1lb, tench to 7lb, odd bream to 4lb, roach, rudd and perch have taken a liking to maggot, pinkie, caster and tares and have proved rewarding as hook baits.
On Springside, carp to 14lb have been snapped up on the method feeder, both match style and carp style.
Multiple catches have been recorded most days with seven to eight carp reported in a session.
Boilies and Pepperami have worked wonders when targeting the carp.
Quality silvers have also put in an appearance when targeted on the waggler, whip and pole when offered maggot, caster or bread punch.
Bear Lake has seen carp to 13lb on the method feeder when offered pellet on the hook.
Open water has produced more frequently but island and margins produced the better catches and more carp.
Roach and rudd catches have also been reported with catches of more than 15lb received from silver fish anglers.
Despite the low water levels the bream continue to show well on the traditional bream-style tactics and the pole line at Queen’s Lake.
Bream to 7lb 8oz have been reported and alternating baits has been the way to keep the bream feeding.
Pellets, maggot, corn and worm have proved the most consistent baits.
Bream to 5lb have been showing to the bream anglers on traditional bream-style tactics at Shepherd’s Lake.
Carp to 14lb have appeared, while tip and pole have proved extremely successful when targeting the roach, skimmers and rudd on maggot, caster and corn.
Tottenhill has seen carp to 13lb 11oz and bream to 4lb 3oz.
The method feeder and shallow waggler has seen carp take the baits on offer.
Bream have shown on the pole line at dead depth or over depth and the odd carp have also been reeled in on the bream baits.
