Runners greeted with sleet and snow at King’s Lynn parkrun
Lynn parkrun participants were greeted with a dose of ‘Mart’ weather on Saturday, with the sleet and snow giving the 347 runners taking part an additional incentive to quickly get going.
Of course, the 24 volunteers who did a great job and who were standing out for the duration of the event had to suffer with the cold wet conditions.
Without the benefit of running to keep warm, the adage of wearing lots of layers was certainly relevant.
The day saw 10 first-time park runners to The Walks and a bumper 24 visitors from other park runs, all of whom were made to feel very welcome.
The first to finish this week was Nathan Stockdale with a very impressive PB time of 16:05.
The first female to finish was JW10 Felicity Allen in an impressive PB time of 20:02, with JW10-14 Libby Sibthorp, once more knocking off the seconds, finishing in a PB time of 20:19.
She was closely followed by JM10-14 Thomas Elsdon, who we haven’t seen for some time due to other sporting activities keeping him busy.
Elsdon finished with a PB for him of 20:23 and seeing these young people doing so well each week is always very encouraging.
This is equally true of the senior runners and the age-graded hero this week was Jane Ashby who achieved an excellent 95.81% grading.
Congratulations to Sean King on his 50th parkrun, Michelle Futter on her 100th, Linda Birdseye on her 150th, Chris Levy and Ashish Rastogi on their 200th and Mike Pembery on his fantastic 350th run.
Lynn parkrun is a free-timed 5k run or walk which takes place at 9am in The Walks each Saturday and is open to all ages and abilities.
