Teenager carries his bat for high-flying Denver
Norfolk Alliance
Division Five
Denver beat Mundford
by 29 runs
Teenage batsman Harvey Wardle, 16, was the star of the show with a century as high-flying Denver remain second in the Division Five table.
On yet another baking hot Saturday afternoon Denver won the toss and elected to bat.
After losing an early wicket Dan Cornwell joined Wardle at the crease.
Both batsmen found it hard to score runs against some tight Mundford bowling.
At the 30-over drinks break the score was still only 97, a long way short of a decent score to set.
With this in mind they both opened up and put on 59 during the following nine overs before Cornwell was caught at long-on for 56, to end an excellent partnership of 139.
Wardle continued to keep the run rate moving with Chris Rolfe scoring a quickfire 17, before Martyn Wardle joined son Harvey to complete his century and take the Denver total to more than 200.
The innings ended on 210 with Wardle carrying his bat for the entire innings to finish on 106 not out.
Mundford got off to a good start before losing their first wicket on 71.
Joe Manning (2-22 from nine), Martyn Wardle (2-22 from seven) and Dan Cornwell all bowled tightly and regular wickets kept Mundford just short of the required run rate.
Their innings ended on 181- 6 from their 45 overs.

Elsewhere in the Norfolk Alliance, Premier Division leaders Downham Town beat Old Buckenham by six wickets.
Second-placed Fakenham registered a seven-wicket success at North Runcton while Stow beat Acle by 21 runs.
The latest results see a West Norfolk stranglehold at the top of the table with sides from the area occupying the top four places in the overall league standings.
