Heacham hosts coaching sessions

The first of four table tennis coaching sessions were held in Heacham Public Hall.

After last year's successful sessions, coach Steve Goodale was guided participants through the course.

To give more intense coaching on an individual basis, numbers were reduced from 16 to 8, although this was eventually increased to 11 so nobody was left disappointed.

Nine players returned from last year, along with Keith and Vanessa Thompson.

Multi-ball is a big part of coaching these days, but last year the downside was picking up the balls.

This year, a catching net, which caught more than 90 per cent of the balls, was introduced.

Also added this season was a table tennis robot, which went down very well with all participants.

The session ran between 7 and 8.45pm and four tables were used.

The final three sessions will take place on Monday and June 18 and 25.
