Joint Heacham boss announces departure from Station Road
Heacham Football Club have been rocked by the departure of joint manager David Griggs.
Griggs, who has guided the Magpies to seven successive promotions and into the Thurlow Nunn First Division North, announced he was stepping down after writing a heartfelt post on social media.
The club stalwart took to Facebook to say: "I would like to say that I'm stepping away from my role at the football club.
"I've had seven wonderful seasons and made some great memories that I will always remember.
"I'd like to think I'm leaving the club in a fantastic position and in great hands with Ross, Sean and JJ and i wish them the best of luck for the new season.
"Massive thanks to all the players present and past what a grand job you have done. David Page and Darren Bailey you pair are the heart of the club and your work for the club often goes unseen but i thank you both so much.
"Lots of people i could name, but I hope to call each of them in the next day or so. Thank you and good luck for the future. Up the Heacham."
Following Griggs' announcement, Heacham released a statement saying: "All at Heacham FC would like to formally acknowledge and thank David Griggs aka legend, Griggsy, David Griggs, Griggo for his hard work and endeavour, he leaves our club in great shape, from all the Magpies, we thank you.
"Further announcements to follow."
The Magpies, who begin their pre-season preparations at home to National League North outfit Peterborough Sports tomorrow, will be playing at the highest level in the club's history next season.
