KES students retain county champions status
Young anglers from Lynn's King Edward VII have retained their county champions status after a brilliant display at the Norfolk School Games.
During the event at Barford Lakes, the KES team, representing West Norfolk at the games, reeled in a combined catch of 80lbs between them on their way to a record win.
Captain Luke Boughen led the way with 46lbs haul.
His younger brother Daniel Boughen bagged 22lbs and Jacob Clarke caught 12lbs while Thomas Wagg was reserve on the day.
Luke Boughen won his section, as did his brother Daniel, while Jacob Clarke finished second in his.
Teacher Ross McNeil said: "I'm very proud of these talented lads as we continue to cater for the needs of all students.
"We have tried to develop the sport of fishing at KES in the past three to four years and make regular visits to Narborough Lakes to provide opportunities for our 25-strong fishing squad.
"We now also run fishing as a Inter School House event, again at Narborough Lakes, which is a new initiative.
"To link this very popular sport into the long-standing house points system is something KES are very proud of.
"As a non fisherman, myself, I have learnt a lot in the past few years and I will actually be taking part in one of the fun events at Narborough Lakes next week."
St Clements High School finished in 11th position with Liam Wagg winning the individual award with a record haul of 62lb 10oz.
