Daniel Farke’s Canaries expected to be strong at The Walks
King’s Lynn Town FC expects the toughest of tests when hosting Norwich City tonight (Friday, July 6, 7.30pm) at The Walks.
His ranks have been boosted by defender Rory McAuley who arrives on a two-year deal from Lowestoft Town where he made 81 appearances, scoring six goals.
On his new centre-back addition, Linnets manager Simon Clark said: "Rory is a great leader and he will also bring experience to the team. He will be fantastic for Ryan (Fryatt) as will Lee Beevers (who signed this week).
"He has played at a higher level, is a great age and still remains hungry. He has the right DNA as a defender and hates conceding goals.
"We've got some great defenders at this football club who won't concede goals easily and who are willing to put their heads on the line."
Clark now has plenty of cover across the back line and will now focus on adding a couple of midfielders to his squad before the beginning of the season.
The Linnets are expected to be up against a strong visiting Norwich City squad at The Walks.
A number of their new signings may be in action at some stage.
Clark admitted his troops will be 'undercooked' so early in their pre-season programme – but the chance to play a professional side like the Canaries is too good to pass up.
Clark said: “Norwich is too early in our preparations – but it’s Norwich City and something we can’t turn down.
"I’d much rather have it two to three weeks later, but we totally understand the hierarchy.
“We’re grateful for the opportunity to play against Daniel’s (Canaries boss Farke) side.
"Playing a Championship side is a tough job for us in some ways. The playing element is a really good thing.”
Clark realises it’s a given that Norwich will have the majority of possession: “We’re talking about how we are going to press," he added.
“We’ll have to do a lot of pressing, sit and soak it up. They will be tactically and technically ahead of us.
“Out of possession will be a key thing for us. We’ll press and press in league games and get the ball but it will be slightly different against Norwich.”
