King's Lynn golfer Yule runner-up in Scottish Masters

Lynn golfer Jack Yule clinched a second-place finish at the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour's Eagle Scottish Masters.

Yule was one of four golfers to finish behind eventual winner Chris Gane after heavy winds put paid to the final round at Montrose.

The youngster, who carded a 69 in the first round on the Thursday, made a blistering start to his second round with five consecutive birdies on the opening nine holes seeing him share the lead with Craig Farrelly at one stage.

But a bogey and a double-bogey on the final two holes saw him finish on six-under par for the day and eight-under for the tournament.

Yule, who was back in action at the Jessie May World Snooker Championship event at Clevedon Golf Club last week, said: "I was very happy with my performance in Scotland where I played solid golf all week.

"I felt I dealt with situations very well when they weren't great and if you made the most out of the front nine you were in a great position to go very low."

The 23-year-old, who joined the paid ranks in October, went into the new season having competed in three events on the Gecko Tour where he claimed a victory and two top 10 finishes.
