Lynn Stars skipper scoops another accolade

Lynn Stars speedway rider Robert Lambert has been named Sports Personality of the Year at the Active Norfolk Sports Awards for 2018.

Lambert, skipper of the Stars, enjoyed an incredible season after regaining his British Under-21 title and adding the British senior crown to his growing list of honours.

The Dereham-based youngster also picked up a silver medal as part of Team GB in the Speedway of Nations.

Lambert narrowly pipped fellow finalists, shotputter, Sophie McKinna and steeplechaser, Iona Lake, to the award.

He looked stunned as he picked up his award, admitting it had been a tough season.

After receiving his accolade, Lambert said: “I am feeling great, it’s incredible to be here tonight and to receive a trophy like this."

More than 2,200 people cast their votes for the Norfolk Sports Personality award where the winners in 11 categories were announced.

The awards were hosted by Norwich City football legend Darren Eadie.
